CRD Appoints Associated Engineering & CH2M Hill for Wastewater Treatment Plan

Victoria – The Capital Regional District (CRD) today announced the appointment of Associated Engineering with CH2M Hill and Kerr Wood Leidel Associates to assist the Liquid Waste Management Steering Committee in the development of a wastewater management strategy.

The CRD is committed to advancing the design and implementation of improved wastewater treatment including resource recovery and biosolid management, while ensuring that the project integrates environmentally within the community. “This engineering consortium brings together world leaders in wastewater management,” said CRD Board Chair Alan Lowe. “They have award-winning, international expertise which I am confident will serve the
region well as we move towards sewage treatment.”

The core team will include Rick Corbett, John Spencer and Dr. Glen Daigger. This group will be supported by a team of individuals in the specialty areas of liquid and solid waste management, resource recovery, odour control, pipelines and pump stations, outfalls and marine pipelines, and cost estimating.

Project leader Rick Corbett is a wastewater industry leader with 28 years experience both nationally and internationally. He has participated in over twelve Liquid Waste Management Plans in British Columbia many of which were cutting edge strategies. Most recently he was a key consultant for the $600 million Annacis Island and Lulu Island Plants for the Greater Vancouver Regional District.

“The CRD continues to proactively move to develop our sewage treatment plan for June 2007,” said Lowe. “The engineering firm’s familiarity with the CRD and its existing systems will ensure rapid progress.”
